If the shield becomes dislodged, the drain valve may open resulting in a fuel leak. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire. Under certain conditions, significant liquid fuel on the road surface may cause a slip hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
The protective shield that secures the fuel conditioning module may become dislodged. This could result in the drain valve of the module opening, causing a fuel leak. This would cause a fire hazard and a slip hazard.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford notified known owners of affected vehicles beginning in November, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 16S39.
