Recall 16V698000

Rear Hatchback May Unlatch With Single Press Of Release Button

Recall Details

For manual transmission equipped vehicles, the hatchback release switch may require only one press to open the hatchback. It should require multiple presses. Dealers will reprogram the body control module with revised software free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, the hatchback may be able to be released with only a single press of the interior latch release button. This does not comply with federal requirements that require multiple touches of the release button to open the hatchback, in an effort to prevent unintended opening. This would increase risk of injury.
