The passenger frontal air bag inflator may rupture on deployment, causing metal fragments to come through the air bag and injure occupants. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator or air bag module free of charge to resolve the concern.

Recalls on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in July, 2016. If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. How long it takes to fix a recall depends on many different factors:

How many vehicles are affected by the recall? How complex is the problem to fix? How many different parts are involved in the repair? Are the repair parts available? How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
