Wheel Chair Lift Platform Cracks

If the platform side plates crack or the platform mounting fails from out-of-position bearings, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the vehicle's doors are opened, the platform may fall onto the lift operator, increasing their risk of injury.

16V-331 / Ricon 2016 Recall Summary

For vehicles modified with a Ricon wheelchair lift by National Van Builders, the wheelchair lift platform can crack and as a result separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle lift door. Additionally, the link arms of the lifts may have pivot holes that are too large, allowing the bearings to move out of position. Either concern would cause the platform to fall out of the vehicle when the door is opened. This would increase risk of injury.

Recalls on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. National Van Builders will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2016. If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
