Recall 16V312000

Front Seat Belt Retractor Retaining Screws Loose

Recall Details

The seat belt retractor retaining plates may not be fastened down securely, resulting in the seat belt possibly not securing an occupant in an accident. Dealers will inspect and replace both front seat belt assemblies as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The plates that are screwed down to fasten the front seat belt retractor to the vehicle may not be tightened properly. This could result in the seat belt separating from the vehicle in an accident, failing to restrain an occupant.

What Should You Do?

Recalls on your Kia must be performed by a Kia dealership. Kia will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2016. If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Kia dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
