On May 17, 2016, Kia recalled 5,245 Kia Forte. Kia motors america (kia) is recalling certain model year 2013 forte vehicles manufactured september 10, 2012, to october 31, 2012. the screws that hold the front seatbelt retractor retaining plates may not have been properly tightened, and as a result, the seatbelt retractor retaining plates may break in a crash.

The plates that are screwed down to fasten the front seat belt retractor to the vehicle may not be tightened properly. This could result in the seat belt separating from the vehicle in an accident, failing to restrain an occupant. 

Recalls on your Kia must be performed by a Kia dealership. Kia will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2016. If you do receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Kia dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

The hose that carries transmission fluid to a cooler that keeps the fluid from overheating may develop a leak. This can result in transmission failure and the vehicle not moving when commanded.
