Drive Train
If the adhesive bond fails and results in a loss of torque to the rear wheels, the vehicle operator may be unable to move the vehicle, or may experience deceleration if the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
The carbon fiber drive shaft may separate from its rear flange, causing the vehicle to stop moving when commanded by the accelerator. This could cause an accident with unexpected deceleration and the lack of motive power.
Recall repairs on your Mercedes Benz vehicle must be performed by a Mercedes Benz dealership. Mercedes Benz will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Mercedes Benz dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.
