The passenger frontal air bag inflator may rupture when deploying the air bag. This is due to excessive moisture intrusion compromising the inflator. As a result, metal debris could be sprayed onto vehicle occupants. Dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator or air bag module depending on the model free of charge to resolve the concern.

16V-128 Recall Solution

Recalls on your affected Toyota, Lexus or Pontiac vehicle must be performed by the respective Toyota, Lexus or General Motors dealership. Toyota and Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning in March, 2016. General Motors will notify owners of affected Pontiac vehicles (a timetable of this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local appropriate Toyota, Lexus or General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. How long it takes to fix a recall depends on many different factors:

How many vehicles are affected by the recall? How complex is the problem to fix? How many different parts are involved in the repair? Are the repair parts available? Has the dealership received the parts for the repair yet? Do dealership technicians have training to conduct the specific repair? How many recalled cars can the dealer repair each day (while also doing their daily service business)?

Recalls are unrelated to your warranty coverage. Any recalls that are issued for safety-related items on your vehicle will be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer at no cost to you.
