Transmission Fluid Leaks From Cooler Hose

Recall Details

The transmission cooler hose may have been improperly manufactured and may develop a leak. Dealers will replace the transmission cooler hose free of charge to resolve the concern.

The hose that carries transmission fluid to a cooler that keeps the fluid from overheating may develop a leak. This can result in transmission failure and the vehicle not moving when commanded.

What Should You Do?

Recalls on your Kia must be performed by a Kia dealership. Kia will notify owners of affected vehicles starting in March, 2016. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Kia dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. Summary
Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2011 Forte vehicles manufactured August 27, 2010, to November 11, 2010. The affected vehicles have a transmission fluid cooler hose that may have been improperly manufactured, resulting in a transmission fluid leak.
Consequence
If enough transmission fluid leaks out, the transmission may not function properly and the vehicle may stop moving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Kia will notify owners, and dealers will replace the transmission cooler hose, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 30, 2016. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC129.
