Suspension & Steering
If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
The steering motor sensor may fail, resulting in loss of power steering assist from the electric power steering system. Dealers will check the power steering control module (PSCM) for any trouble codes and replace the steering gear for vehicles that have codes relevant to the concern stored. If no codes are found, dealers will update the PSCM software free of charge to resolve the concern.
Ford will begin to notify owners of affected vehicles starting in July 2015. You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The Ford recall number is 15S18.
