Recall 15V246000

Door Latch Fault Due to Component Failure

Recall Details

A component within a door latch can break making the doors difficult to latch when closed. This could cause the driver and/or passenger to believe their door is secure when it is not. A door that is not latched properly could open unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of personal injury and property damage. Dealers will replace all four door latches free of charge to correct this concern.

Our Quick Take

The doors may be difficult to latch, and the latches may not fully secure the doors in the closed position. This could allow a door to open while the vehicle is in motion.

What Should You Do?

Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles in June, 2015.  If you are experiencing difficulty closing your doors, or wish to inquire if your vehicle is involved in this recall, you may contact your dealership. The dealership may ask for your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), so please have that on hand when you contact them. The dealers will replace all four door latches free of charge.  The Ford recall number is 15S16.
