If the tension sensor misclassifies the front passenger, improper passenger air bag deployment may occur, increasing the risk of occupant injury in the event of a vehicle crash.
The tension sensor in the passenger front seat belt buckle may not properly identify an occupant as a child, resulting in the passenger front air bag being powered for deployment in an accident. This could cause injury to a child occupant in the seat. Dealers will replace the passenger front seat belt buckle free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in October, 2014. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 14C08.
