In manufacturing mode, the vehicle's air bags will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
The module that controls the functionality and operation of the air bags may have been set to "manufacturing mode" when leaving the factory. This would prevent normal air bag deployment from occurring in a crash. Dealers will reprogram the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) free of charge to resolve this concern.
General Motors began notifying owners of affected vehicles in September 2014. You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The General Motors recall number is 14532.
