Brakes
If a brake pad detaches from caliper, there may be a sudden reduction in braking, lengthening the distance required to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Certain vehicles equipped with 17 inch front brake rotors are being recalled because during vehicle assembly, brake rotors intended for the rear may have been installed on the front. The rear rotors, while the same diameter, are thinner and may result in a front brake pad detaching from the caliper. Braking ability would be reduced suddenly if a brake pad were to detach. The resulting increased stopping distance would increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the front brake rotors, and install the correct rotors with new brake pads, as necessary to correct this concern.
General Motors will notifying owners of affected vehicles beginning May 29, 2014. If you don't receive notification and believe you should have, please contact your General Motors dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The General Motors recall number is 14128.
