Failure of the clutch master cylinder reduces the ability to shift the vehicle into or out of gear, increasing the risk of a crash.
When the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch master cylinder provides the hydraulic pressure to disengage the clutch. Certain vehicles equipped with a manual transmission are being recalled because the clutch master cylinder can fail without warning. If this were to occur, the ability to shift the transmission would be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the clutch master cylinder on affected vehicles to correct this concern.
Mitsubishi will notify owners beginning November 11, 2013. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-13-009.
