Suspension & Steering
If the lug nuts loosen, they may fall off or cause the wheel studs to fracture. Either condition would allow the wheel to separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Lug nuts tighten on the wheel studs to secure the wheels to the vehicle. These vehicles are being recalled because the lug nuts can loosen and fall off, or cause the wheel studs to break. A vibration would commonly occur as the wheel lugs loosen and continued driving with loose or missing lug nuts would result in the affected wheel falling off, increasing the risk of a crash. To correct this concern, dealers will remove and re-install the lug nuts, and perform a tire rotation free of charge.
General Motors will begin notifying owners of the affected 2013 SRX vehicles on June 13, 2013. If you notice any abnormal vibration, do not drive your vehicle and contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The General Motors recall number is 13116.
