Engine
If this leak occurs in the presence of an ignition source, there is an increased risk of a fire and/or personal injury.
Certain vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine were assembled with an engine compartment fuel line which may split, resulting in a fuel leak. Any fuel leak always increases the risk of a fire. Owners will be notified and instructed to stop driving their vehicles and contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to arrange for pick-up of their vehicle. Customers will be provided with a rental vehicle if needed. The dealer will replace the engine compartment fuel line to correct this concern. The Ford recall number is 12S35.
Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning July 20, 2012. At that time, they will instruct owners to stop driving their vehicle until repairs can be made. If you notice a fuel odor, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
