Brakes
CORROSION CAN DEVELOP IN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR LEADING TO MELTING, SMOKE OR A FIRE.
A brake fluid leak can develop from the cap on the fluid reservoir, which may damage the antilock brake system (ABS) module electrical connector. A damaged connector can develop corrosion, causing the connector to overheat and melt and/or catch on fire. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder cap and modify the ABS electrical system to correct this concern. Corrective parts may not be readily available. Owners will be advised to park their vehicles outside until repairs can be made. The Ford recall number is 11S24.
Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning January 23, 2012. If you notice a brake fluid leak in the master cylinder area and/or illumination of the low brake fluid warning light, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
