THIS COULD ALLOW THE SHAFTS TO SEPARATE, RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF STEERING. LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The bolt attaching the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear may not have been properly installed. The steering shaft may separate from the steering gear, which may cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and repair the intermediate shaft/steering gear connection as necessary to assure the shaft is properly assembled. No schedule for owner notification is available at this time. The General Motors recall number is 11149.
This should be considered a high priority recall. Steering ability could be lost without warning. Please contact your General Motors dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
