THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING.
The rear axle cross pin, an internal component of the rear differential that is housed in the rear axle assembly, may break. If the cross pin breaks, the rear axle may lock, which could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash. Dealers will install a new rear axle cross pin to correct this concern. This recall should begin no later than January 25, 2011. The General Motors number for this recall is 10426.
We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall. The rear axle may fail without warning. Please contact your GM dealer; they will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
