A CRACK IN THE SPRING PLATE MAY RESULT IN ENGINE OIL LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FROM THE OIL FILLER NECK, POSSIBLY LEADING TO THE ACCUMULATION OF DIRT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH SUBSEQUENT SOILING OF THE ROAD SURFACE WHICH COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE CRASH.
An engine oil leak may develop from a cracked engine oil filler neck spring plate where it mounts to the engine cylinder head. This can lead to engine oil leaking onto roadway surfaces, causing hazardous and slippery conditions for other drivers. This increases the risk of an accident.
