THIS COULD INTERFERE WITH THE PEDAL'S ABILITY TO RETURN TO AN IDLE POSITION. UNEXPECTED, CONTINUED THROTTLE APPLICATION AND/OR INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES MAY OCCUR WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
On some Mustang Cobra models, the unique rear surface of the accelerator pedal may catch the cutout in the floor carpeting and not allow the engine to return to idle. This could cause longer stopping distances and/or unexpected, continued acceleration, which may lead to a crash. Dealers will install a shield over the cutout in the carpet behind the accelerator pedal. The recall began April 26, 2006. The Ford recall number is 06S43.
Please contact your Ford dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
