The parking brake pedal cable lock nut may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification. The lock nut may loosen and come off, reducing the effectiveness of the parking brake. This could allow the vehicle to roll if the transmission is not placed into the "park" position, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect and tighten the parking brake cable lock nut. This recall began on February 24, 2005. The Mitsubishi recall number is SR-05-001.
