Engine May Stall Without Warning

Recall Details

On 69 vehicles, the fuel pump wiring can become chafed by an underbody shield. This could cause the fuel pump fuse to open and the engine to stall unexpectedly. This may increase the risk of a crash. The recall began September 9, 2003. The Chrysler recall number is C27.

Summary
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP WIRING MAY BECOME CHAFED BY AN UNDERBODY HEAT SHIELD.
Consequence
THIS COULD CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO OPEN, RESULTING IN AN ENGINE STALL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A PROTECTIVE WRAP ON THE FUEL PUMP WIRING HARNESS AND COVER THE EDGE OF THE HEAT SHIELD. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN SEPTEMBER 9, 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
