Drive Train
LOW OIL LEVELS IN THE TRANSFER CASE COULD CAUSE BEARING DAMAGE AND RESULT IN DRIVE TRAIN LOCKUP, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The transfer case for the all wheel drive system may leak oil, and lead the transfer case to lock up. Dealers will inspect the transfer case for signs of oil leakage. On units that do not show signs of leakage, the oil will be changed for the unit. Cases that show signs of leaks will be replaced free of charge to resolve the concern.
Dodge notified owners of affected vehicles starting in December 2002. You can check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them. The Dodge recall number is B17.
