The wiring harness to the brake pedal position switch that activates the brake lights and shifter interlock mechanism may short circuit and blow a fuse causing loss of brake lamp and shifter interlock function. This can result in failing to warn other drivers that the vehicle is braking, which can lead to an accident. and can prevent release of the shift lever from park.
