I put the car in gear, and while it's idling there's a noise that seem's to be coming fron the transmission. The noise goes away when I apply the throttle.

It's too hard to speculate without being able to hear the noise firsthand. It could be in the transmission it could be a worn engine amount allowing something to vibrate or rub until the power train "loads up" when the engine is accelerated. It will need to checked out by a transmission specialist or auto repair shop.
