Radio not working

my radio works once and a while but i notice it works only when the chime works and most of the time the chime alarm does not work what could be the problem its not the amp what could it be?

The warning chime tone in your 3001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo comes through the drivers door speaker. That would explain why the radio and the chime fail together. If you are sure the AMP is OK then the fault could be with the radio or the wiring from the radio to the AMP or the AMP to the speakers. If any of the sound output wiring is shorted to ground that would cause the AMP to shut down. If all of the wiring to and from the AMP checks out OK then the fault is most likely the radio or the connections at the radio.
