Hello, I'm not sure how a fuel pump sounds like anything. The sound doesn't matter; fuel pressure at the engine matters. Have the fuel pressure checked at the fuel rail if you're concerned about fuel delivery. Other than that, when "hot", the engine processor is relying on data received from various components to create proper running conditions - fuel, air, spark mixtures and emissions controls. Testing will be required to find out what readings may be out of specifications.
