What is your question?
The barking noise seems to comes from the rear part of the car and does not appear to be engine related. It disappears at lower speeds. The car has 72,000 miles on it. No real problems until this. Braking, even at higher speeds had no effect. The latest episode had a whooshing sound with it. This has happened twice in the last 6 months on longer trips.
What makes this problem better or worse?
higher speeds on longer trips

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your 2014 Toyota Prius V sounds like a seal auditioning for SeaWorld, it’s likely you’ve got an issue with wind noise or perhaps a wheel bearing starting to act up. The "barking" could come from airflow getting trapped or disturbed around the rear panels or seals. The whooshing noise might suggest air pressure issues, like around the rear hatch or windows. Wheel bearings are another suspect—they’ll make odd noises at high speeds but are usually quiet when you slow down. Best to record the sound when it's happening if it's safe to do so. That way, when you go to a RepairPal-certified shop, you'll have some evidence!
