Locked and seized mean the same thing to me. If the crankshaft physically will not turn with an actual wrench on it, then you have some kind of catastrophic internal engine failure. There can be multiple causes of this. One or more cylinders may be full of fuel or coolant, for example, preventing the crankshaft from turning. Or, a major component has broken apart. Are you certain you do not just have an issue with the starting system? Have you actually tried to physically turn the engine with a wrench? Your description of concern sounds more like a starting issue than an internal engine issue at this point.
Hi thanks for reply . But yes we thought it was starter . Got it rebuilt put back on but no difference . Then decided to try the engine and yes it's solid won't move at all . Just baffled by this as no warning lights no over heating no noises no smells drove great parked it and now seized had plenty of oil water the lot don't understand it really looked after the car
Hello, I'm sorry for your experience. Must say that at this point: it's all about how to move forward. Remove spark plugs and check for the presence of fuel or coolant in the cylinders. Remove the cylinder head or remove the engine to disassemble. If you're certain the engine is seized, obtain a suitable used or remanufactured engine for replacement -- seized engine's are typically not that which can be repaired without a full rebuild including machining and replacement of all damaged components.
