Are the rear shocks easy to install by a "do it yourselfer" or do I have to take it to a professional ?

We would recommend a professional on most applications
if u have shocks with separate springs and it shouldnt be that difficult- struts with coil springs that need compressing to take apart are a lot harder
Shocks inside of springs, use many muffler clamps when the vehicle is on its' wheels to hold the springs in compression. No experience on the Grand, but simple on the regular Vitara. I would hose off the underside of the vehicle first, as dust falling from undercarriage is a P.I.T.A for your eyeballs! Use Moove-It (Not WD-40) on the bolts/nuts first to prevent stripping if they are rusty. Remember, use jack stands, wheel chocks, e-brake and common sense when working under a vehicle!
