What is your question?
Brought my car in to the dealer for timing belt replacement and some other work. Was told I had a power steering rack leak - estimated cost of repair $1298.00. Was told didn't need to do it at that time. Would like to know how I can tell I have a problem (I don't notice difference in steering), when I need to fix, and a reasonable cost. Seems all Subaru repairs are a little pricy regardless of at dealer or not.

IT DEPENDS ON SEVERAL FACTORS . IT COULD BE A SEAL , WORN OUT INNER TIE ROD , OR WORN STEERING HOUSING . A FREE VISUAL INSPECTION WOULD GIVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A MORE COMPREHENSIVE ANSWER AND ESTIMATE .
