What is your question?
The radio powers on. It will scan for stations and switches between AM and FM. It will accept a CD and reject it. It will switch CD tracks but again no audio.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing makes it better or worse...simply no audio
How long has your 2003 Subaru Baja had this problem?
This is a recent purchase. Did not work at the time of the sale.

Hello, no audio output can be due to the audio unit having an internal failure, wiring connections being incomplete, an amplifier that is compromised or failed speakers. Since you are flying blind by not knowing what happened when the unit stopped working, you'll first need to check to see what components are there, and what may be missing. Sometimes people remove components when selling a vehicle (like a good amplifier) and leave the audio unit inoperative. Just a guess, but maybe some kind of components were removed, and you'll have to sort it out. Seek guidance at a local car audio shop near you - you might find that's quite helpful.
