When I turn the key to start it, it makes a grinding noise and it just started

any where from 50 to 200.00 for a rebuilt. but youll need to take the old one w/you as there is a core charge. you might just have them run a check on that starter while you're at it. they are not always reliable checks though. I know,I was told the starter on my saturn was fine but I did not like the sound of starter was making. replaced it and viola problem was solved. don't panic though, take it to auto zone and have them run the check the'll do it for free. it sounds like its shorting out internaly if the gears are not retracting away from the flywheel when you let go of the key.
