When making a right turn I hear a loud squealing noise from the left front wheel. When making a sharp left or coming to a complete stop it quits. The squeal changes pitch if tapping the breaks.

Hi, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Great question! On your 2014 Scion tc what you are describing sounds like your brakes are just getting to their minimum specification and what you are hearing is what is Called squealer, or wear indicator. It is a little tab of metal on your brake pads that will start to make contact with your rotor once the pad material starts to get close to minimum spec. If left ignored it will eventually get louder and more consistent and eventually become a louder squeal when applying the brakes. There are some other possibilities as well that could be causing this, however they are all potential safety issues and it’s a good idea to have it inspected sooner than later. The longer you wait, it could end up costing more to repair.
