2011 scion TC a/c cools intermittently, clutch always engaged, fan working

What is your question?

A/C inop at times, intermittently is cold, clutch always engaged, evac and recharged system to proper weight. pressures are even, I was told it has a variable compressor. How does the compressor know to work? Oh the car was in an accident in January, front end collusion. There are not any trouble codes at this time.
