idle rough and exhaust smell

Hello, hard to know what the smell is without nose-on inspection! Seriously, though,concentrate on the rough running first, this is probably causing the abnormal exhaust odor. Engine performance concerns related to excessive fuel or lack of air can cause exhaust stream concerns. Testing will help determine the cause of concern.
