For some reason my power steering gets tight for about 5 minutes then goes back normal, also I hear my radiator fan kicks in during this time. But goes off as soon as wheel loosens up.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Goes away when fan goes off

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sounds like your Ram 1500's got a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on with the power steering! When your radiator fan kicks in, it's likely putting extra load on the engine, causing the power steering to tighten up temporarily. This can be due to a faulty fan clutch or a power steering pump that's starting to give up on its day job. It might also be a sign of a weak or slipping serpentine belt that's struggling to keep up with the extra demand. If it’s been only two days, it’s best to nip this in the bud before it turns into a real workout for your arms. Have a pro take a look and give it a proper diagnosis.
