Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! From what I can see in your Ram it is integrated into the steering column control module (SCCM) which contains the spiral cable, (updated version of a clock spring) as well as the steering angle sensor. There may be other RAM specific faults stored (in addition to the loss of communication) that aren't able to be recognized or translated by your scanner that could provide more context and aide in diagnosis. So before proceeding any further I would recommend having it evaluated professionally, if the issue is within the SCCM and it needs to be replaced, the airbag will have to be removed. Airbags are dangerous if not handled properly and proper precautions must be taken to avoid accidental deployment, leading to severe injury or worse.
