when changing an intermediate shaft, does gear ratio matter?

2017 ram 1500 4x4 crew cab big horn 3.21 axle ratio. I need to change the passenger side intermediate shaft (its what the cv axle connects to). Mopar wants to replace the whole front diff but that is too costly. i found some shaft replacements but some of them say 3.55 ratio. does ratio matter with this?

What makes this problem better or worse?
