I'm hearing quite of few comments on how many problems there are with the e torque system. I am considering buying a 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn with the 3.6L e torque. Issues with the battery going dead on newer trucks, stalling, loss of power.

Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! I get it, you want to make sure you're not stepping into a world of headaches. Here's the lowdown: every car model might have its quirks, and yeah, I've heard a few rumblings about the eTorque system. Some of them are legit concerns, others are misaligned expectations, this happens from time to time, we expect things to operate how we believe they should, and that's rarely the case for the engineering teams. But here's the deal: it's not like every single 2020 Ram 1500 with eTorque is doomed to have these problems. It could be a case of a few isolated incidents getting blown out of proportion. Plus, newer models often get updates and fixes to iron out any kinks. Any time someone is considering an investment like that, my advice is always to do your homework. Talk to other owners, and maybe even chat up a mechanic who knows their stuff about Rams. And if you decide to go for it, maybe consider researching an extended warranty for some added protection, just in case. We work with a lot of great companies like olive, Omega, and Headstart that could have what you're looking for. It could give you some extra peace of mind knowing you're covered if anything funky does happen down the road.
