What is your question?
The car came to a stop slowly while driving with the error messgae of "Fault: Transmission". Towed to Dealer. Dealer said that couple sensors inside the transmission malfunctioned and did not communicate with other parts of the car. Needs to replace the transmission and costs about $12K. Is it a product defect from Porsche as those sensors are placed NSIDE the transmission? It does not make sense to me if they are expected to be worn down since they are placed inside the transmission. Any comments?

Sensor inside the transmission work under severe conditions, they are submerge in transmission fluid and exposed to very high temperatures, it is not uncommon that this sensors go bad and replacement of the transmission all depends on what the fault s are, Dealers for the most part do not repair transmissions they replace the transmissions with a new or re-manufactured unit, (there is no mention of the mileage and the codes within your question) to replace some of the sensors in the transmission you have to completely disassemble the transmission and if the mileage is to high it just might be too expensive to repair it, remember most Porsche dealers labor rate is in the $240.00 range and at about 22 hours of labor to overhaul plus parts it can get expensive, but all depends on what the faults are.
