My battery is completely dead and I removed the front drivers side fender liner to locate the cable to open the hood. The only thing that I see that might house a cable is a blue piece of tubing. Is that the housing for the cable. Does not appear on the other sibe. Thanks.

The Cayman has a release lever behind the headlight on the passenger side. It is very thin, and is a galvanized color.
The better way to go: in the fuse box by the drivers left foot, look in the top right corner after removing the cover, there you will see a picture of a car with the hood open.
Pull that out, connect a jump-box or another 12v battery like so:
Ground (black) to anything metallic within reach, door hinge, striker for the door latch, and the positive side goes to the metallic sides of the part you pulled from the fuse panel.
Then, pop the hood normally.
