Why does my 1994 Pontiac Transprt SE 3800 has Engine/idle surges when braking?

Surging of the engine during braking is related to the fluctuation of engine vacuum the power brake booster is using. There may be a vacuum leak somewhere. Check also the PCV valve. If this is causing a stall, other engine performance issues could be compounding the concern, and hands on comprehensive testing is needed.
