What could be causing my car to experience a power deliverance issue?

Only once stomping the gas and getting past about 20mph the car will will to jerk slightly as if to be missfiring, even heard a weird missfiring like sound when i did it to hear if it may be just a transmission problem, it seems more like an engine issue. It drives perfectly fine when not needing explosive power. Only “missfires” when being gassed
What makes this problem better or worse?
