Eventually the bearing can fail, causing the bearing assembly to come apart and possibly cause a dangerous situation so don't let it go for too long. Have it checked and fixed soon.

Well, nothing good will come of it that's for sure. The bearings will fall out and the tire and hub assembly will come off your car and go rolling down the road.
