You don't want to just pull straight off, you should grab the boot and turn left/right to break the seal that time and heat cause. Then gently tug and wiggle at same time to pull off. Even when doing this it may be in bad enough shape that will come apart and have to be replaced. If it does, replace the set and not just one as they will be the same age.
