you mean to listen to see if you can hear it working?

1) Make sure fuel pump is working and providing required pressure. 2) Make sure your fuel filter isn't clogged (sometimes happens when you run out of gas). 3) Check to see if fuel is contaminated with water. Water can condense in the fuel tank.
