Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your Pontiac Grand Am. I am not 100% sure on the question being asked but it does appear that you are wondering if your ignition key can be affected by touching another key to where it can affect the security system in your vehicle which can lead to engine startup concerns. In my experience with this model there shouldn't be any effect if your key ends up touching another key whether its a security key or not to where it would affect the security system in your vehicle or start up concerns. Security components can suddenly fail in this model though to where that can prevent the engine from starting up. If you are experiencing a security concern I recommend having your vehicle properly diagnosed by a reputable repair facility to pinpoint which component is causing this concern so it can then be repaired properly from there. This model should have the chip in the key and from experience the key cylinder itself reads that chip and the most common cause is usually the cylinder itself failing to where it has to be replaced, but I do recommend having it looked into to pinpoint which component is causing this concern before attempting any repairs.
